It Will Never End. Never.

Especially if even the White House acts as stupidly as the deepest-dipping teabagger. But the biggest fault (except that he did it on purpose!) is with that RWS™ of all RWS™, Andrew Lynch Breitbart, who, once again and in concert with the lying liars at Fox "news," deliberately edited footage to make it appear that the exact opposite of what happened, happened. They are despicable liars, who have no regard for truth, democracy, or the most basic levels of decency. And THAT is demonstrable fact. Where are we now, and where will we be, if one or our major political parties can only gain power by lies and obfuscation? Where are we now, and where will we be if (when) they succeed?

Add this to the previous statement of fact: if you hear it on Fox "news" or from the mouth of any of the RWS™, assume it's untrue. Without exception. And, to those who continue to disagree: wake the f*ck up!!!

Want even more mind-blowing amusement? Glenn Beck, he of the many scalps taken by deceit, innuendo, and judgement without data, evidently thinks such character assassination is only okay if it's he who does it. Really. No kidding.

Or this: O'Reilly apologizes for taking her words out of context, then, animating the defintion of assholery, takes her words out of context again.

I believe it was Thomas Becon who asked, "Shall this man live?"

It bothers the hell out of me that, with or without Obama's approval, someone in the administration forced the lady out before the turds dropped by Breitbart had even had time to equilibrate to room temperature. But more -- much much more -- it disturbs me deeply that there's anyone one left in the country, even the most unschooled or home-schooled or credulous and ill-equipped to think for him/herself teabagging faux patriot, who buys the crap the right wing is selling.

If you don't like what Obama is doing, say so, and say why. Say what you'd do differently, how to get it done, and how to pay for it. Specifically. Propose alternatives; better still, propose alternatives that have a chance of working. If, on the basis of such discussions, people are convinced that the Republicans deserve to return to power and to return is to the EXACT POLICIES that got us into the mess we're in, fine. Well, not fine, of course. But at least we could all say it's democracy, it how things work. But if it happens because of the relentless lying of the RWS™ and the stupid, empty, and entirely unmeritorious acceptance of it by the worried masses too lazy and too unable and too unwilling to stop and think for themselves, well, it'll be pretty damn sad.

Because, whether done on the basis of "informed" discussion or disinformed, either way it'll take us down the tubes. So, at least, as we sink under the waves, I'd at least like to think it wasn't because the lies of guys like Andrew Breitbart were the reason.

(I'm not the only one wondering when serious people on the right, assuming there are some, which remains an open question, will say "enough.")

[Update, 7/22: here's a damn good summation of the whole thing.]

[Update, 7/26: it should be noted that timelines have shown that the firing/resignation took place more or less before Fox "news" starting hyping the story. This is evidently taken by some as somehow exonerating Fox: if she quit before Fox starting pumping the venom, they have no responsibility. Well, for the firing, maybe. But for the non-stop coverage and claims of racism in Obama's government before other media sources finally did the due diligence required... yep, it's on them. And my fundamental point, that if you hear it from Fox or any of the other RWS™ you should consider it false until proven otherwise, most certainly still stands.]

  1. Maybe this will make you feel better:

But I agree with you. The government should shut down Fox news. There is no document anywhere that allows them to say whatever they want.

  2. A brilliant comment as usual, Blue, drawing direct inference from what I said and taking it to the logical next level.

Really, man, you are the perfect person to defend the RWS™: you demonstrate EXACTLY and irrefutably what I've been saying about people who buy what they're selling.

  3. Ummm Sid,
    The Ironic-ness is Alanis Morisett-y...
A Woman of Color on the hot seat for making borderline racist remarks taken out of context...Won't they ever learn?
You'll never catch me on videotape talkin about how I only did Vasectomies on African Americans...
(Hey it was Med School!! ALL my patients were African American)
So why didn't your Harvard Educated President watch the entire tape(the NCAAP had one) before ordering Ballsack to fire her?? and he could have come up with a better excuse, like how She looks like "Aunt Esther" from Sanford and Son(She Does!!!):)
and if it wasn't for Fox, my Spank Bank would be empty, I mean, the whole story wouldn't have come out. Your Commie News Network or PMSNBC(OK, Rachel Madcow's Highschool Pic was hot) sure didn't exactly rise to the occasion...

  4. Thanks, Frank, for restating the obvious in your inimitable way. Other than the fact that the speech was from 24 years ago, and was "racist" only if you completely edited out the point she was making, which was, uh, the opposite of racist, yep, it was borderline racist.

And here's the thing: there are these things called "words" in my "post" and when connected, we call them sentences, and sentences produce thoughts. For example, since I criticized Obama for the firing, it sort of means your comment was pretty much useless.

And it was Breitbart that did the hatchet job. Fox "news" of course picked it up. Except for Shep Smith, the only semblance of a reporter on that channel, who didn't trust the source.

  5. I would think that with the propensity to edit footage on *both* sides it would be a no brainer to check the complete footage *before* taking action and so I concur with you on that point.

I don't understand why the NAACP condemned her when *they* had the complete footage from *their event*.

    Something odd there.

  6. Ummm Sid, the speach was from THIS March...I guess thats sort of like 24 years ago...
Your startin to remind me of my Grandfather who'd get all angry whenevre they changed the Cable TV lineup and he'd throw his shoe at me cause he thought I was my Dad...talk about children paying for the sins of the parents...
    Seriously, NAMENDA, get some.
    Oh your already taking it??
Umm do some Soduko or something.
Or throw a shoe, you can throw it at me, I'm used to it.

  7. SeaSpray: examples. please, of another network or a liberal blogger deliberately editing footage to make it show the opposite of what happened. In this case the editing was not by Fox, but they hyped it relentlessly, and when Bill'O "apologized" he simply repeated the falsehood.

There are many examples -- and I've shown them -- of Fox clips that they themselves edited falsely. Show me some from other networks. Fact is, SeaSpray, you're part of the problem: there's no more equivalence between Fox and other networks than there is between creationism and evolution. When you realize it, you'll be much better off. You can be conservative, you know, without needing lies to support it.

When you defend Fox, you suggest you have no actual facts or philosophical arguments of your own to make. I know conservatives who make sense: they don't rely on Fox news to do their thinking. Pretty much by definition.

Frank: you're right. I misspoke. The incident was 24 years ago. Fox and the rest of the screamers claimed it happened while she was in USDA, and they used video which had edited out the whole point of the story, which was that she was wrong then and rose above it.

  8. "What do you see differently? Some sort of black plot? Negroes? Really, lady: you need to turn to a different channel once in a while to give your brain some oxygen. You're starting to worry me."

Dr S! YOU have GOT to be KIDDING me!!!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE you would say such an insulting thing to me.

It's OBVIOUSLY in YOUR head tho!

God as my witness ..I have NEVER ONE time in my LIFE thought like that!

    I have always respected you.

NO ONE that KNOWS me would EVER think of me like that. And news flash ..I DON'T think like THAT!

    THAT is DISGUSTING!

    You owe me an apology.

I came in here in good faith, I gave a sincere opinion. You act like I don't have a brain in my head. I first saw the story with my husband when wolf blitzer was airing it all Wednesday nite ..I think.

You are seriously jaded. It is pointless for me to ever comment here. You always yell fOX!FOX! And I saw CNN. Ha ha! It seems FOX is beginning to take over YOUR brain. Not mine.

I did not even see the story when it broke. I have been busy and news has not been a priority and glad to be away from it. I will pick up in the fall. I catch it here and there. I will be into it for the elections.

You need to take a break from it. it's CONSUMING you.

I think a lot of people made a mistake! But someone had to remember.

When I said "I would think that with the propensity to edit footage on *both* sides it would be a no brainer to check the complete footage *before* taking action and so I concur with you on that point."

I meant that *both* parties are guilty of doing those things. It's common knowledge. and so knowing *this happens* ..it would behoove all reporters and gvmnt officials to review things in their entirety and this debacle proves it. the white house should not fall prey to that. Greta always plays the full clip.

I said "I don't understand why the NAACP condemned her when *they* had the complete footage from *their event*.

    Something odd there."

There were a lot of people there. I think it's odd no one came out faster to defend her.

I would say the same if Sarah Palin said something seemingly inflammatory to a group of tea partiers and yet the truth was she said something posiive and no one from the tea party group came right out to defend her and yet someone erroneously chastised and fired her. It's embarrassing for the White House and other people including FOX.

Interestingly ..you saw color and race and basically insinuated I'm a racist. That is one of the worst things you can say about a person.

I was commenting on the situation. She spoke at the NAACP. It is the only reason I mentioned them. It was not color!

I would have mentioned ANY organization.

Why do so many people judge like this? And wrongfully so?

When will people like you in this country see black people for their accomplishments, who they are as people ..as Americans and not their color?

As long as people think like this racism will never heal because it is being perpetuated by the very people who say they are trying to fix it.

And for the record and I could put my hand on a Bible for this (And that is an oath I would NOT take lightly)..I have never one time ..not once in my life said a derogatory slur against any person of color or of any nationality...EVER! And no one in my family does. And our sons were raised to respect everyone. and so when I hear this tea party racist bs ..I see red and I feel sad and discouraged. Because I do not know people like that and I know that most of those people are good people. It's just wrong how you put them down with accusations of racism.

  11. You said a horrible thing about me and I do hope you put my defending response up.

I still have it if you deleted it.

I didn't deserve that. There was nothing offensive with what I said and even agreed with you - concurred with you on the one point, but you missed my intent.

I know you won't care, but I will not be back in, even to read after you let me defend that awful race comment against me. I do not want to set myself up for something like that again. I am surprised you would do that to me after reading my comments these last few years. You may not agree with anything I have said in here..but I have not been mean to you or anyone in here. I am conservative. I am a Christian. I am not ashamed of those things. You may not understand or agree ..but it does not mean you are 100% right and there is no other valid viewpoint... independent of FOX news. I've been a Christian since I was 9. And a conservative since I was 14... when the press was NOT conservative. I don't even know when Fox news channel came on.

I can see how consumed you are with this and I got in the crossfire.

  13. And here's a little irony for you: I wrote today's post a couple of days ago, before your comments, SeaSpray. I had included your name along with the others but I took it out because I didn't want to hurt your feelings.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I haven't read the post but guess I will. It's *more* than hurt feelings.

It was a *vile* thing to insinuate about me and so far off the mark that I saw red. And yes ..I felt hurt.

I apologize for anything I may've said that offended you in my comments... but as i said ..I saw red at your talking to me that way and the seriousness of the accusation.

How would you feel if in some parallel universe ..you actually held predominantly conservative views, you were the same good human being that you are and felt genuine concern and you happened to go to a tea party in your area. (I never have) and then you hear tea party people being insulted and worst of all being called racist ..something so far from the truth?

They are not white neo nazi racists. have you LOOKED at the people that attend? A blending of Americans ..all races, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.

If you are going to be *fair minded* you have to factor in that any reporter from anywhere can be selective in what interviews they report. if you want to put a negative slant ..you pick the worst representatives who really don't represent the main body/collective opinions of the group.

And then their is the editing out of context on both sides.

Maybe it is good this happened because maybe people will be more honest with the editing. I am telling you ..Greta has always shown the whole film. She is the only reporter that has consistently done it. I was impressed with wolf blitzer the other night.

And I want to be clear ..my stating I am a Christian was not meant in any bragging way or whatever ..but that I had my views before conservative news ever got on the air. I am as flawed as the next person and work in progress. Sometimes I even have blogger's remorse when I write an edgy post/comment that conflicts with my conscience... but I still do it anyway. So ..I am not a holier than thou person.

I'll keep saying it (and I just added it to the comment page, since my repeating it in posts doesn't seem to work): you can sign in anonymously, but unless you leave some sort of identifier in your comment, I won't publish it. Otherwise I'll never know which anonymous (and lilly-livered) anonymous to whom I'm responding. Assuming I do.
